FAQ/Parents

Who’s running this event?

The guys that run this website, Opening Night. If your concerned that a 15 year old can’t run an event on your own, your right. This event is co-organized by Opening Night Entertainment, Party Inc, Allagesparty.com, Tryst Nightclub, Soundgarden.ca and other industry veterans. From a logistical standpoint, this event is managed by dozens of people, most of which have hundreds of events under their belt, whether it be weekly events at Tryst, regular all-ages events, or organizing the DIGITAL DREAMS music festival in Toronto. If your concerned about anything. Tell us. We want you to be assured that this will not flop, and that your money will not go to waste. Blur is very much happening, and it will go down as the unforgettable (in the best way possible) start of a new age of all-ages parties in Toronto.

Where is BLUR / How do I get there?

Blur is taking place at Tryst Nightclub, in the loft and in the Oasys patio. Stay tuned for a promo video with shots of this unique and luxurious space. To get to Blur, go to KING subway station, and take the streetcar west on King to PETER St. After getting off the streetcar, walk about 1 minute north on Peter St. Tryst is on the left side, and will be brightly lit. You won’t miss it. Otherwise, get a cab or ride to the address: 82 Peter St.; Main intersection is Spadina and King.

Is the event (and club) safe?

A short answer? Yes. There will be dozens of security staff hired for the night, and an extremely high ratio of patrons to security. Tryst (the club) will take full responsibility for the safeguarding and well-being of our patrons, and takes the safety of minors very seriously. Everyone entering the club will be checked for high school ID to ensure they are 14 ore older, yet younger than 19, and additionally, subject to a search of their person (including pat down). Furthermore, location of Tryst means that Toronto Police will be patrolling the area vigorously (standard in the entertainment district late night) and will add an extra layer of security to our event.

Will kids be drinking (and/or drugs)?

Parents rest assured, there will be absolutely no alcohol being served, and no 19+ VIP section of the event for such purposes. Although we cannot help what kids do before they reach the event, persons suspected of intoxication will be denied entry, and in a severe case (discovery of alcohol or drugs) will be handed over to the police.

Is it all foam?

No, only the OASYS patio is completely foam, but the loft of TRYST is also open. This indoor space is where the DJ booth will be housed, and this space will be filled with people as well.

Foam sucks, it won’t be fun!

If you’ve tried it, it wasn’t done well. If you haven’t, you shouldn’t be talking. Foam is by far the best way to enjoy a club event in a hot Toronto summer. Guarantee you’ll like it.

What should I wear?

The foam is water and soap, so no clothes will be damaged. That being said, don’t wear anything too nice. Heavy clothing (i.e. sweatshirts, sweatpants, etc) are not recommended as it will get wet, and you will want to be as comfortable as possible. Recommended for guys is light shorts and shirt/tank top and for girls is the same.. For your phone and wallet, it’s recommended to put both into a ziplock bag, then into your pocket. You won’t be soaked from head to toe, and your stuff won’t get damaged if its in a plastic bag. Another option is to bring a backpack and leave your things in there, plus side being you can bring a towel and anything else you want for the night. **NOTE** Bags WILL be searched. Keep that in mind before you attempt to break the law.

How do I dry off?

It’ll be hot, and you’ll dry enough by the time you have to leave, but if you’d like to be extra cautious, bring a towel. A limited number of towels will be available to use at BLUR, but you’ll have to pay (appx. $2-4) to borrow/use one. My recommendation, bring a bag with a towel, and check it in at coat check.

Is the Foam safe?

The foam mixture is simply water and soap. Nothing more, nothing less. 100% hypoallergenic, there is nothing dirty about soap.

How do I get home? /IM WET!

Being in the heart of the downtown entertainment district, hailing a cab will be extremely easy. Some people say cabs won’t pick you up after a foam party. They’re wrong. You won’t be nearly that wet, and if you were, you’ll have dried by time to leave. Either way, cabbies want a fare, and won’t mind a little bit of moisture in their back seat. Another option if you leave early enough is to take the TTC (reverse the directions above); and last (also easiest/cheapest) is just to schedule a ride with your parents, or friend’s parents!

Can I pay at the door?

If in the event Blur is not completely sold out, tickets will be available at the door for $25 each. Come before 10 to ensure you can still get a ticket. Watch the Facebook event to make sure the event is not sold out though.

What time should I get there?
